Background:

The Cheyenne Street Railway Trolley offers fully-narrated Historic Tours on the enclosed Cheyenne Street Railway Trolley. Their season is May through the end of September, with five 1½ hour tours on weekdays, 2 tours on Saturdays, and a single tour on Sundays.  Seasonal Tours are also offered such as the Ghost Tour in October, and the Christmas Lights Tour in December.  The trolley is also available for private charters for weddings, reunions, or any other special occasion.

Challenge:

The operators of the Street Railway wanted a system with an easy to use POS interface, which allowed for quick sales during last minute "crunch times" before the trolley was to depart.  Additionally, they wanted a system that could be configured to route different ticket types to different printers that were loaded with different colored stock, thereby allowed their drivers to easily distinguish different passenger types.  They also wanted a system that would support their legacy printers which happened to be Datamax light duty E-Class thermal units.  Lastly, the system had to be deployable on their small peer to peer local area network.

Solution:

Tick-It! Trak Pro with the optional Inventory Module was installed using the MS Access database as the back end, eliminating the need for a SQL Server.  The Cheyenne Railway could do this reasonably due to their lack of complex reserved seating, no internet interface, and small number of POS Stations (just 2).
